Commitment Alert: Madison Williams
December 4, 2017
Madison Williams of ProStar Fastpitch and Northwest Whitfield High School committed to continue her softball career at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, GA. Madison was on her second visit to the campus in the last few months and decided it was time to announce her decision. Madison is in her second year with ProStar Fastpitch after playing for Coach Chattin as a 12 year old when he ran the Heritage Select program. She is the daughter of Mark and Lee Ann Williams and she has an older sister Rachel. She carries a 3.8 GPA at Northwest Whitfield High School. At Northwest High School, Madison has been a member of the FFA, FBLA and the FCA. She attends Rock Springs United Methodist. Madison was first noticed by the previous coaching staff at Brewton-Parker College and with Coach Tompkins remaining on staff she continued to be recruited as Coach Herrin took over the program. She is a strong armed outfielder / pitcher and she has excellent speed on the bases with doubles power at the plate.
Quotes from Madison:
"I want to thank my family for the sacrifices they have made for me over the years. They have practiced with me and driven me all over the country to play this game that I love. i could not have done any of this without their love and support."
"I was searching for a small college that fit both my academic needs and my desire to both pitch and play outfield in college. I have visited a few colleges and I kept coming back to the things that I liked about Brewton-Parker."
"I have dreamed about playing in college for years and I know how hard I have worked but I want to thank my coaches over the years in both Select and school ball. In particular I need to thank the coaches of ProStar Fastpitch for helping me in the last year. Coach Chattin gave me a plan to help with my recruiting but more importantly he believed in me."
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
"I cannot put into words how proud I am of Madison not only as an athlete but as a person. Madison first came to us as an 11 year old and then we were out of touch for a few years before she joined ProStar last year. To see the growth and maturity in her leadership skills / work ethic / and love of the game is something I will always remember."
"I believe Madison is just now realizing the true extent of her athletic ability and her softball skills. Her best days are definitely ahead of her. She is one of the best outfielders in this area and she is fearless as a competitor whether she is pitching or in the outfield. She can drop down a bunt and beat it out or she can drive a double off the fence. She understands the game / her role / and the role of all of her teammates. It is like having a another coach on the field."
"I expect Madison to start in her freshman year at BPC in the circle and in the outfield. She will step on the field and be one of the best players on the team."

"I was searching for a small school that would be a fit for me both academically and athletically. I loved the campus at Hiwassee and immediately felt comfortable with Coach Carroll. I am convinced that he will help me to continue to grow as an athlete and a person. I was also attracted to the school because it was close enough for my family and friends to attend games and support me."

Commitment Alert: Brittany Ogle
May 2, 2017
Brittany Ogle (Class of 2019) has decided to end her collegiate search by announcing today that she is going to attend Maryville College to play for Coach Leah Kelley. Brittany is one of the fastest if not the fastest high school players in the North Georgia / Chattanooga area. Brittany plays SS for the ProStar Fastpitch 16 under team and has played SS/3B for Northwest Whitfield High School and Coach Jason Brooker. She is a slapper that possesses the ability to bunt, slap, and hit for power. Brittany becomes the second ProStar player in the last year to commit to Maryville College as Calhoun's Alaina Reece committed earlier this season.
Brittany's family helped play a huge part in her decision process. Her mom and stepdad are Stacy and David Lewis. Her dad and stepmom are Bobby and Robin Ogle. She has two siblings---half brother Fisher Ogle and stepsister Cassidy Lewis. Brittany is an Honor Student at Northwest Whitfield where she carries a 3.8+ GPA and is heavily involved in the FFA and FCA organizations. Outside of school Brittany attends The Well Baptist Church of Tunnel Hill and she participates in community service events thru the United Way, the City of Refuge, and the ProStar Fastpitch Toys for Kids event at Christmas.
During her high school career Brittany has accumulated numerous honors. She has lettered in both softball and track while being named to the All-Region and All-Area teams for softball as a freshman and a sophomore. At Northwest she has been honored as being a member of the Lady Bruin .300 club while hitting almost .400. The coaching staff also honored her with the Selfless Bruin Award.
QUOTES FROM BRITTANY:
I would like to thank my family for supporting me in all of my softball endeavors. In particular my mom is not only my rock but my best friend. She has been there to coach me , to scold me, to praise me, to take me places, and to pay for the cost of travel ball and lessons. I would not be the player or the person I am without my family. I would also like to thank Coach Chattin and the coaches of ProStar Fastpitch and Coach Jason Brooker and the coaches of Northwest Whitfield for their belief and support of me.
I have played softball my whole life and since joining ProStar Fastpitch last fall I have dedicated myself to being the best player I can become. I have always worked hard but they have taken my game to another level. Coach Chattin has been working with my mental game and my leadership skills as much as my physical skills. This fall and winter I started attending camps and playing in the high level exposure tournaments that ProStar Fastpitch plays in on a regular basis. This made me realize not only that I wanted to play in college but I had the ability and I was going to be fortunate enough to have choices.
I chose Maryville College because it felt right --- it felt like home. Many people have suggested I wait and continue to talk to some of the other schools that have been in contact with Coach Chattin or myself but I know I am making the right decision. I wanted to commit over a month ago when I visited but I waited. I do not want to wait any longer. Maryville College has what I want athletically and academically. I know with my grades and ACT scores I will qualify for a nice academic package and I plan to apply for numerous other academic scholarships. I love Coach Kelley and I am proud to be a Scot!
QUOTES FROM COACH CHATTIN
It never gets old to see a player find the perfect fit for their collegiate future and I firmly believe Brittany Ogle has found the perfect fit. Brittany is a strong player that could play at many levels in the college game and had several schools interested or wanting to see more of her this summer. However, the moment she stepped onto the campus at Maryville College I could see in her eyes an extra sparkle and I knew her decision. We strive for our girls to find the right fit and not worry about the division of play. With her strong academics she is perfect fit for Maryville College.
Brittany is one of the top two or three slappers we have ever coached. She came to our program with lots of God-given ability and a solid skill set. We have attempted to expand and refine that skill level and Brittany has been a sponge in soaking up and implementing the changes we have asked her to make. She has that rare ability to bunt / slap / and hit for power. She is capable of playing the hot corner or one of the middle infield positions and she plays them all well.
Brittany is also the type of person that is a pleasure to be around. She comes to practice with a smile on her face and she practices with a smile on her face. She is a people person that is a good teammate and is growing into a team leader. We are proud of her and excited for her future. We believe that Coach Kelley is one of the top young coaches in the game and that Brittany will continue to grow as a player and a person under her tutelage. Brittany is great representative of ProStar Fastpitch and she will be a great representative of Maryville College.
Commitment Alert: Cassidy Lewis
April 19, 2017
Cassidy Lewis (Class of 2017) has had a busy month. She recently joined the ProStar Fastpitch 18 under program and today she called Coach Engbers of Covenant College and told her she wanted to spend the next four years at the "College above the Clouds". Covenant is a D-III school and is a member of the USA South Conference. Under the direction of Coach Engbers Covenant had one of their best seasons in school history this past year. Cassidy is an extremely athletic player that has spent time in both the infield and the outfield. She possesses a strong arm, sure hands and untapped potential in her offensive game. Cassidy is the daughter of Dana Lewis and David Lewis. Her stepmom is ProStar Fastpitch executive board member Stacy Lewis. She will graduate from Bradley Central High School this May with Honors and has attained Bear Scholar status. Her step-sister is ProStar 16s shortstop Brittany Ogle.
QUOTES FROM CASSIDY
I would like to thank not only my parents and step-sister for supporting me in my softball activities but former coaches Ashley and Kristen Sermons and former high school coaches Christy and Terry McElhaney. Of course I would not be the softball player I am without the guidance of Tiny McClung. I would like to thank ProStar Fastpitch and Coach Chattin for giving me the opportunity to play with them and help in the college search. I joined the team less than a month ago and in that time they helped me produce a video / sent information out to different colleges and helped me with my decision. After joining ProStar I had 5-6 schools contact Coach Chattin from the junior college, NAIA, and NCAA DIII ranks. I set up visits to two different schools but once I visited Covenant College I knew I had found a home. I was scheduled to visit a second school this week but my heart was not in attending any school but Covenant. After talks with my parents and Coach Chattin I called Coach Engbers today and told her I was going to school at Covenant. I could not be happier.
QUOTES FROM COACH CHATTIN
Even though Cassidy has only been with us a month we could not be happier for her future and for the way she has quickly become a strong part of the ProStar organization. She is very athletic and we believe that with the coaching of the ProStar staff this summer her skill level will rocket. I could see her being a SS for Covenant or filling a role of need as she can play every position except pitcher and catcher. For us she will play third base and outfield. Some people have toyed with her as a slapper but we are looking at developing her more as a right handed batter that possesses the speed to drop down a bunt. We always stress to our girls to find the right fit regardless of classification. We believe Cassidy has found that fit. She is a 4.0+ student with a strong ACT score that can also play softball. We believe the softball team at Covenant will reach greater heights under the guidance of Coach Engbers and Cassidy will be a huge part of that success.

Announcement: Julia Wallin
February 13, 2017
Congratulations to Julia Wallin on her decision to attend Chattanooga State next fall. Julia had a tryout today and while she was not quite at the level Chattanooga State wanted for next fall they have offered her the opportunity to join their program in a managerial capacity Fall of 2017. However in her capacity as a manager they are going to allow her to practice and workout with the team in hopes of her joining the team as a player in the future. I find this to be refreshing on Julia's part that she loves the game enough and understands the situation well enough to do what is best for her future and for her love of the game! Congrats Julia on joining the nationally acclaimed Chattanooga State Tigers program! #ProStarProud

Commitment Alert: Julia Fish
January 27, 2017
The connection between the North Georgia area and Brewton-Parker College continues to grow as Julia Fish ( Class of 2018 ) of ProStar Fastpitch has committed to Coach Crawford and Coach Tompkins following her visit on Thursday of this week. Julia becomes the latest in a solid group of ProStar players that have decided to cast their lot with the small NAIA school in Mount Vernon GA. Previous signees or commits include Morgan Parris, Lindsey Adams, Destiny Parker, and Holyn Holsomback.
Julia is a power hitting corner for ProStar Fastpitch splitting her time between first base and third base. She has also seen time in the outfield and catcher. In her second year with the ProStar she has continued to improve and her hard work has paid off with this scholarship offer. Julia attends Coahulla Creek after starting her prep career at Northwest Whitfield. She is the daughter of Dawn Johnson and Greg Fish and her siblings are Lauren and Eli. She has lettered in track and attends CrossPointe Church.
Quotes from Julia Fish
" I felt very comfortable on my visit and workout at Brewton-Parker College. I loved the way the girls and coaches interacted with each other and it was obvious the amount of money that is being spent to upgrade the facilities."
"This is the third college visit that I have been on and it is the first time that I have felt at home. I plan to major in education and I feel that I will benefit from the small class sizes. It helps that there are other ProStar players that will be at BPC with me. Morgan and Destiny will play there in the spring of 2018 and I will enroll at the same time as Lindsey and Holyn. I wanted to go away to college but stay close enough that family and friends could visit."
"I want to make sure and thanks my parents for the way they have supported me over the years. I also need to thank the ProStar program and the coaches. Coach Chattin has guided me in my search and individual lessons but I am also extremely appreciative of Coach Hammontree and all the other coaches."
Quotes from Coach Chattin
"I am extremely proud of Julia and the amount of time she has put in to reach the goal of a college scholarship. She came to us as a catcher but has transitioned nicely into a corner infielder that can play outfield if needed. Over the last 18 months she has become much better hitter in consistency without losing any of her natural power. She will be a strong doubles / home run hitter for Brewton-Parker."
"Julia is a perfect example of a young lady that has bought into the ProStar Fastpitch plan for college recruiting. She has emailed coaches / attended camps and performed in showcases. This allowed her to be asked to attend three different tryouts this fall and winter across the South and Midwest. She finally found a fit both athletically and academically. We could not be more proud of her than we are today and she knows that the scholarship is just the beginning and not the end."

Commitment Alert: Holyn Holsomback
January 13, 2017
Holyn Holsomback (Class of 2018) continues the connection between ProStar Fastpitch and Brewton-Parker College as she committed on Friday afternoon to the growing NAIA school located in Mount Vernon, GA. Morgan Parris (Class of 2017) signed papers to BPC in December and two other ProStar players in the 2018 class are committed to BPC. Those two players are Lindsey Adams and Destiny Parker.
Holyn is a strong armed C/OF with tremendous raw power. She joined ProStar Fastpitch in the fall and first impressed the Brewton-Parker coaching staff in a ProStar practice. The BPC staff continued to watch Holyn in several fall showcases and were sold not only on her current ability but the high ceiling that they believe she possesses. During her workout she stood out catching, demonstrated extra base power and impressed the coaches with her hands and range in the outfield.
Holyn attends Northwest High School in Tunnel Hill, GA where she plays for State Championship coach Jason Brooker. She is the daughter of Jody and Debra Holsomback and is a member of the FCA at Northwest. She attends Salem Baptist Church and will major in Nursing at BPC. Brewton-Parker College is coached by Head Coach Randy Crawford and Asst Coach Nate Tompkins. Holyn becomes the 11th player in the short history of ProStar Fastpitch to either be currently playing in college / signed to play in college or committed to play in college. These players are at the D-I / D-II / D-III / NAIA and JC level. ProStar Fastpitch strives to give the players an opportunity to find the right fit for their players academically and athletically.
Quotes from Holyn:
"My dreams of playing college softball have finally come true with my commitment to Brewton-Parker. I want to thank all of my coaches and teammates throughout the years for believing in me and pushing me to be my best at all times."
"I would like to thank my family and friends for the constant love and always supporting with time and money as I have played the sport I love across the Southeast."
"My favorite Bible quote is Jeremiah 29:11 and I know it applies to my opportunity at Brewton-Parker. I told Coach Chattin after my visit that I totally fell in love with BPC. It is the perfect fit from the size of the classes to the girls on the team to the coaching staff."
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
"This fall we were looking for a solid catcher for our 18 and under ProStar team and the name of Holyn Holsomback kept coming up. Once we tried her out we knew we wanted her on our team. Holyn is blessed with tremendous God-given size and athletic ability."
"I am convinced that as talented as Holyn is she has not reached her potential yet. In fact this is not often said of someone as talented as Holyn but the BPC staff and myself almost consider her a "raw" talent. I know that another 18 months with ProStar will polish and enhance her skills and have her prepared for college."
"Holyn will catch the majority of our games this spring and summer but I know that the Brewton-Parker coaches and myself are impressed with her in the outfield in addition to her duties behind the plate. She is capable of being a 15-20 a year home run threat in college."

Commitment Alert: Jazzmyn Shelton (Woody)
November 9, 2016
Jazzmyn Shelton (Woody) of ProStar Fastpitch and Ridgeland High School committed late Wednesday evening to Miles College. Jazzmyn is a Class of 2017 graduate and will sign with Miles College this coming week. Jazzmyn possesses outstanding speed and has played the infield , outfield, and catcher. Jazzmyn is the daughter of Tashia Shelton and attends First Baptist Church of Chickamauga, She is a member of the Edge Youth Group and has participated in softball, basketball, and track at Ridgeland. Miles College is a Division II school located in Fairfield, AL. The Golden Bears are coached by Patrick Peasant.
Quotes from Jazzmyn:
First I would like to thank my mother for being my biggest supporter. She showed me early on in my life that hard work pays off. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in my life both on and off the field and could not have done it without my mom. I never dreamed I would get the chance to play in college but my mom kept telling me that I was the best (her little superstar) and that I could do whatever I put my mind to achieving. She supported me 100 percent ---- long car rides , longer talks where she was chewing on my rear end to be the best , taking me to games, camps, and college visits---talking softball and talking grades. She has never missed a game and has never given up on me. My mom is my best friend and she is the reason I am going to have the opportunity to play at Miles College
I would also like to thank Coach Peasant for the numerous times he came to watch me play last year. I seriously lost count the number of times he was at games to watch me and let me know that he wanted me at Miles College. I knew he saw something in me.
The quote that got me thru my obstacles was " Take everything one day at a time." I remembered this quote any time things became difficult. I want to thank my God for giving me this opportunity and I plan on making the best of my decision and my future.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
Jazzmyn joined our program in late August and has quickly established herself as the fastest player in our organization. I have been very impressed with her work habits and her coachability. She is very talented at second base and any of the outfield spots. She is a slapper that can bunt and be safe but she can also swing away and hit a double.
There are many players that I feel ProStar has helped with their college decision but Jazzmyn had completed much of the process before she joined us. I would like to think that ProStar helped her refine her search / give her additional options / and be a program that she could ask questions of as needed but make no mistake this journey and this decision was made by a very mature young lady long before she became a member of the ProStar Family.
I feel the future for Jazzmyn at Miles College is unlimited. With her drive / determination / and ability the sky is the limit.
Other schools that had shown some interest in Jazzmyn during the last few months included Georgia Gwinnett College , TSU, Brewton-Parker College, and Cleveland State. Some of those schools had made offers to Jazzmyn.. She is one of the fortunate ones that had choices in her decision. The relationship she had established with Coach Peasant and the generosity of the offer at Miles College were the things that lead to Jazzmyn's final decision. There will be a celebration of her signing next Thursday November 17 at noon at Ridgeland High School.

Commitment Alert: Alaina Reece
November 7, 2016
Alaina Reece of ProStar Fastpitch and Calhoun High School has decided to attend Maryville College. Alaina is a 2018 3B/C. She called Maryville Head Coach Leah Kelley this evening and informed her of her decision. Coach Kelley is quickly growing Maryville College into a National D-III power.
Alaina is in her second year with ProStar Fastpitch and becomes the 7th player in the second year program to commit. Alaina is the daughter of Mike and Jennifer Reece of Calhoun, and she has two younger sisters Lauren and Mallie. She is the granddaughter of Mike and Alice Reece, Harold and Joan Hughes, and Ron Jackson.
She attends Sugar Valley Baptist Church and is an honor student at Calhoun High School. She has been selected as a mentor for the last 5 years for the Sources of Strength anti-bullying program. She is a member of the CHS softball team and won two GHSA State Championships under the tutelage of the legendary Diane Smith.
Quotes from Alaina:
I met Coach Kelley at camps and then visited Maryville College. I knew it was the right place for me. I wanted to commit to Maryville several months ago but we really just wanted to take the time to make sure it was the right decision.
I would not be where I am today without the support of my family. My dad was my first coach, and has been my athletic hero my whole life. My mom and sisters have supported me as well throughout my softball career. I have been playing softball since I was 5 years old- playing college softball was always a dream of mine. I'm very excited for the opportunity to play at the next level.
I want to thank Coach Smith for allowing me to experience the thrill of being a State Champion, and I would like to thank Coach Chattin and all the coaches of ProStar for believing in me. The plan that ProStar gave me for recruiting really guided me thru the process. In addition to those coaches I also need to thank Brent Higgins and Greg Wilbanks. I am so excited to continue to grow as a player and a person under Coach Kelley. I loved the campus and the girls, but Coach Kelley was very influential in my decision.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
I am so excited for the opportunity that Maryville College and Coach Kelley is giving Alaina. Coach Kelley is an awesome coach and person and Alaina gravitated to that immediately. Too many times players get caught up in what I call the letters of recruiting ----D-I or D-II or NAIA or D-III. Alaina never was impressed by the letters of recruiting. She was looking for the best fit for her! She had several D-II and NAIA schools still trying to get visits from her and I feel if she had waited til next summer more schools would have wanted her. We preach to our girls all the times to find the right fit / choose a school for items other than just ball / find the softball program that feels right ---Alaina and her family understood that and nailed their decision perfectly.
Alaina is a strong homerun threat as a hitter and possesses cat like quickness at third base. She is also capable of being a collegiate catcher or playing another infield position. I see Alaina having the potential to be a D-III All-American and an important cog as Maryville College chases a National Championship.

Commitment Alert: Destiny Parker
September 19, 2016
ProStar Fastpitch player Destiny Parker becomes the latest commit to decide her collegiate softball future for the second year program. Destiny committed Monday afternoon to continue her post high school career at Brewton-Parker College. Destiny is in the 2018 Class at Gordon Central High School. She is power hitting pitcher / first baseman that has made all county at the high school level. Brewton-Parker college is an NAIA institution in Mount Vernon, GA. The Barons are coached by former Tenn Temple Head Coach Randy Crawford and asst Nate Tompkins.
Destiny is the granddaughter of Claude Parker who has been her backbone in life and softball. She is the daughter of Crystal Carson and Keith Parker. Her other grandparents are Tim and Shelly O'Neal. At Gordon Central she plays for Head Coach Maddie Monroe Burns and assistant coaches Eddie Monroe and Nikki Roddy. She attends Way of The Cross church and has been a member of the FFA organization in high school.
Quotes from Destiny:
I would like to thank my grandfather Claude Parker for being my support system in everything I do. It has been his guidance and support that has allowed me to chase my dream of playing collegiate softball. He has taken me to camps and tournaments all across the country.
Playing collegiate softball has been a dream of mine since I was little and the opportunity at Brewton-Parker is a blessing from God. I immediately fell in love with the school and the coaches. I thought I had a good workout and I hope to contribute to the future success at BPC.
I would like to thank anyone that has ever coached me but in particular my high school coaches and the coaches of ProStar Fastpitch. Coach Chattin and Coach Hammontree have believed in me and pushed me to be the best I can be both on and off the field.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
It is always exciting when one of our players receive the opportunity to continue to play the sport they love in college. Destiny is a tremendous hitter that has her best years ahead of her as she continues to work and progress as a player and a person. In addition to her hitting Destiny is a pitcher with nice spins and plays a very athletic corner. I expect great things out of her as she gets into the structure of college practices and conditioning programs. Destiny becomes the third player in the 2017 and 2018 classes to commit to Brewton-Parker so she will have some familiarity with some of the players before stepping foot on campus. Her and her grandfather have been huge supporters of Prostar since day one and all of the ProStar staff is happy for her!

COMMITMENT ALERT: Lindsey Adams
August 31, 2016
Lindsey Adams (Class of 2018) made a verbal commitment today to play softball for Brewton-Parker College. Lindsey is a starting outfielder for both ProStar Fastpitch and Murray County High School. Lindsey possesses a raw blend of power, speed, and outstanding athletic ability. Lindsey is a centerfielder for Murray County and has played both centerfield and rightfield for ProStar Fastpitch due to her strong arm. Brewton-Parker College is an NAIA institution located in Mount Vernon, GA. It is coached by former Tenn Temple coaches Randy Crawford and Nate Tompkins.
Lindsey is the daughter of Timmy and Shelly Bearden. She is also the granddaughter of Rusty and Debbie Childress and Wilford Bearden. She attends Holly Creek Baptist Church and made all area in softball her sophomore year.
Quotes from Lindsey:
I really did not know what to expect on my visit but I fell in love with the campus, the coaches, and the girls on the team. I was concerned before the visit about the distance from home as I am very much a small town girl but after the visit I have no concerns. I am also excited about the talent that Coach Crawford and Coach Tompkins are recruiting for BPC. It also helps to have ProStar Fastpitch teammate Morgan Parris already in school there a year before I show up.
I would like to thank my parents , my grandparents , and all of my coaches at ProStar and Murray County for their support of me and my softball career. In particular I want to thank Coach Chattin and Coach Hammontree of ProStar for their teaching and their guidance in the recruiting process. Finally I would like to give thanks to my Lord and Savior.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
When Lindsey joined ProStar in the Fall of 2015 you could see the raw ability that she had been blessed with and you could appreciate her competitive nature. She has improved tremendously in her short time with us. While we work on the short game with her she is projected to grow into a power hitter for Brewton-Parker College. She is a natural lefty hitter and thrower. The biggest improvement in Lindsey has been her ability to learn to control her aggressive nature and use it to her advantage. I am proud of her and her verbal to BPC.

RJ Janke Commits to UTC Softball
ProStar Fastpitch is proud to announce that Rayanna (RJ) Janke of Coahulla Creek High School has committed to play collegiate softball for The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. RJ is a 2020 graduate and will kickoff her freshman high school season this fall. She is a power hitting infielder that joined ProStar Fastpitch last August during their first year of existence. While she spent most of the past year playing SS/ C for Prostar she projects as a 2B / 3B for Chattanooga.
While some may question the wisdom of committing going into your freshman year, RJ has followed the ProStar game plan this past year by attending camps / making unofficial visits / corresponding with schools and performing well at high level exposure tournaments and camps. She is extremely mature for her age and she has found a perfect fit for her college aspirations and her softball skill set. RJ is the daughter of Ken and Michelle Janke. Her brother Steven is a member of the Coahulla Creek tennis team.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
"From a softball standpoint RJ is one of the best if not the best power hitters we have ever coached for her age! She led our whole organization in home runs this past year. She is capable of playing multiple infield positions and catcher. She is always one of the first at practice and one of the last ones to leave practice. She is a leader and puts tremendous pressure on herself to perform well for the team. This past year has been a pure pleasure in assisting her and her family through the recruiting process. I am confident she will continue to work , continue to improve and will impact UTC as a freshman."
Quotes from RJ Janke:
"First I would like to thank my parents and Coach Chattin and Coach Hammontree for preparing me for this opportunity. I feel extremely humbled to be receiving a scholarship offer at my age and I give thanks to God. I know people will question this decision at my age but I loved my unofficial visit to Chattanooga. The coaching staff is exactly what I was looking for and it was easy to interact with Coach Reed and his staff. My parents and I were blown away by the attention to detail that the Academic Advisor showed us. I feel that I can go to UTC and succeed on the softball field and in the classroom. I know that I must continue to work and continue to improve to be the player I want to be and the player that UTC is expecting in four years!"
Since the ProStar organization was started a year ago this is their fourth commitment and their first at a Division I school. As always those of us in our organization are ProStar Proud!

commits to Brewton-Parker

Pressure associated with the recruiting process is officially over for Heritage High School's Morgan Parris, who recently became the second ProStar Fastpitch player to make an official commitment.
The Class of 2017 centerfielder, catcher and pitcher will continue her softball career with NAIA member Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Ga.
Parris said Brewton-Parker was the first school to show serious interest and looked forward to her future in college. She said she also hoped to have another successful school-ball season after helping Heritage to three consecutive top three finishes at the GHSA State Tournament
.
"I am very impressed with the vision that coach (Randy) Crawford and coach (Nate) Tompkins have to improve the program,” she said of Brewton-Parker. “ I was looking for a smaller school with a Christian atmosphere that also had a desire to be competitive in softball.”
Parris - a 4.0 student - said choosing a school with "the right combination” was her main concern as opposed to travel.
“At first I was concerned about the five hours away from home but I grew up an Air Force kid and have lived in several different cities,” she said. “I like the small town atmosphere."
ProStar Fastpitch head coach Steve Chattin said Parris was “extremely athletic” in the outfield and Brewton-Parker College was hitting a home run with her.
“Morgan has tremendous power for her size and is an outstanding base runner,” he said. “I believe that last year she hit something like twelve home runs and led our select team in runs scored and bases stolen.”
Chattin said while he knew Parris was recruited as an outfielder, he said she’s a solid catcher, could fill in to pitch if needed in an emergency and would continue to develop as a player.
“I have been very pleased to watch her growth the past four years and expect that to continue in college," he said.
Parris, the daughter of Tony and Lisa Parris, is an active member of Green's Lake Road Church of Christ.

Kayla Woody commits to Chattanooga State

Ringgold High School softball standout Kayla Woody is one step closer to accomplishing her dreams on the diamond.
The class of 2017 shortstop recently chose to continue her softball career at Chattanooga State, while becoming the first-ever official commitment for the ProStar Fastpitch program.
Woody, a lead-off batter that also plays second base along with the outfield - said she’s looking forward to her future with the perennial national powerhouse Tigers.
"I was looking for a great program close to home and I know that I have found it with Chattanooga State,” she said. “Coach (Blythe) Golden has been a proven winner and I look forward to playing for her.”
Woody said she's hoping to “contribute immediately to their continued success” at Chattanooga State while working towards earning a spot to play at a four year school.
ProStar Fastpitch coach Steve Chattin said Woody’s hard work and soft hands set her apart. He said not only was Woody making a wise decision, but he anticipated seeing her grow as a player.
"I have been coaching since 1979 and Kayla has some of the nicest hands I have ever coached,” he said. “She can make the play in the hole at the big time level because of her glove to hand transition.”
Chattin said Woody would continue to succeed because she “understands the game and is not afraid of hard work.”
“Kayla is one of the first ones at practice and one of the last ones to leave,” he said. “The extra that Kayla brings to the shortstop position is her ability to hit for power and average.”
Chattin said Woody had already established herself as a leader for ProStar Fastpitch and he expected her to “continue to grow as a player."
Wood, who is the daughter of Labron Woody and Melissa Howard, is an outstanding student with a 3.2+ GPA.

Hammontree to play for University of North Georgia
Shelby Hammontree of Heritage High has decided to change her commitment from East Carolina University to the University of North Georgia.
The Lady Generals’ and ProStar Fastpitch standout, who is a member of the 2016 graduation class, committed to ECU as a freshman. However, she said she felt the need to make changes after Coach Beth Keylon-Randolph's recent resignation. Hammontree said the University of North Georgia is a great fit for her academically and athletically. "Once I made the decision to decommit from ECU the two most important considerations in my mind were academics and the opportunity to win a National Championship," she said.
Hammontree said she feels like she can do that under head coach under Coach Mike Davenport.
Her summer ball coach and former high school coach Steve Chattin – of ProStar Fastpitch – said he was confident in Hammontree’s decision. He said she’s “blessed with God-given ability and works tirelessly at her craft.” "Shelby is one of the most talented players I have ever coached and she is probably the hardest working player I have ever coached," he said. Chattin said the 5-foot-11, two-time all-state catcher has an outstanding arm and is a home run threat at the plate. He said she’s also loyal and a team leader.
Hammontree said she would like to thank Coach Chattin and her parents, Gary and Shannon Hammontree, for supporting her and allowing her to make her own decision. "Ultimately softball as a player will end,” she said. “I wanted a great education. In addition I just could not see myself going to a program that was not a winner. I want to improve as a player and I want to win, that is why you play the game."
