Introduction to the birth of ProStar Fastpitch
On April 17, 2015, Coach, Chattin resigned as the Head Coach of Heritage High School in Ringgold, GA, and immediately began assembling the concept of ProStar Fastpitch. First, we will be operating two sides of the ProStar Fastpitch organization. There will be a business side where we are giving lessons and sponsoring camps and clinics. On the business side, we have established Gary Hammontree, Constance Chattin, and Mark Gamble as our business consultants and partners. We are currently doing lessons at local venues until our facility is operational. The business side will be a slow growth project over the next three to four years.
The most exciting part of the newly established ProStar organization will be our attempt to impact young players thru our Select travel teams. These teams will be in several age groups all with the same mission statement:
1) Make each player the best they can be both on and off the field on a daily basis
2) Qualify for esteemed National events and attend collegiate exposure events
3) Ensure each player the opportunity to play in a college fastpitch program if that is their goal
4) Allow the already committed college prospect an opportunity to improve their skills with the goal of starting as a freshman
Players chosen for the Select teams and tryouts dates will be announced throughout the summer.
In an effort to help with the above mission statement, we have established a board of directors to further guide our program. Those directors and their positions are:
Steve Chattin Founder and CEO
Gary Hammontree Vice-President / Player Personnel Director
Amy Lawson Academics and Leadership Coordinator
Cassie Frogge Director of Operations
Due to the fact that Coach Chattin and his staff have already committed to running the Generals Select program as they had done the last several years, this 2015 season is being called Year 0. This summer is a transition year from a Select program that only benefits Heritage High School softball players to an organization that will recruit select athletes to play at the highest nationally competitive level .
