July 2, 2015 press release
ProStar Fastpitch is exactly three weeks away from our first open tryouts. As we move in that direction we continue to add to our program.
Jessica Gibson becomes our second announced commit in the 10 under program. Jessica has played on our 12 under team this spring and should flourish in 10s. She is a right handed hitting OF and C.
In addition we have two coaching announcements:
1) Teri (Autry) Kokinda has been helping with our 12s and 16s for the past month and brings an extreme competitive nature and high energy to the program. Some remember her as one of the strongest throwing players in the North Georgia area. Her ability and competitive nature has carried over to her coaching. Teri will help with either the 12s or 14s next year.
2) Spencer Phillips is joining our program in the 12s next year. Spencer had the very successful Twisters and Bruisers in the younger ages. His daughter Morgan has been a part of our program and Spencer is wanting to once again patrol the coaching box without having to deal with the headaches of being in charge of the program.
ProStar Fastpitch is excited about each of the above individuals joining our program. It continues the high character and high ability that we look for in all prospective ProStar coaches or athletes. Look for more announcements soon!

MAY 22, 2015 PRESS RELEASE
First I want to say that we are receiving tremendous interest in ProStar Fastpitch for the 2015-2016 season. As we continue to put this organization together I have stressed that I truly want the best players in the area and do not want to be tied just to Heritage players. However by the same type of reasoning I do not want to leave a Heritage player out that could help us. With that being said I am announcing today an addition to our 16 under team, the very first 10 under player, and 3 coaches.
We are adding Morgan Parris (Class of 2017) to our 16 and under team. Morgan has proven in the weight room and conditioning aspect of our program that she is one of the best "athletes" in our program. She has shown glimpses of brilliance on the field but we hesitated on pulling the trigger because we were looking for more consistency. Over the last three weeks Morgan has shown that the consistency has arrived. Morgan will be a strong addition to the 16 under outfield and could see time in the circle. She is a lead-off type hitter that possess speed and power. She is extremely young for a 2017 graduate and we expect growth in her ability and maturity as it relates to softball. She currently carries a 4.0 GPA.
ProStar has debated adding any 10 and under players before open tryouts since we are receiving tremendous interest in this age group but we have decided to add one 10 and under player to begin the process. Waverli Brown will be our first 10 and under player and she understands that she will have to fight for her spot. I am convinced that Waverli will be one of our top 12 players and it is up to her to determine if that is in a starting role or as a role player. She is projected as a C / 2B with a very good bat. She has taken hitting lessons from Coach Chattin the last several months and has shown tremendous improvement.
Finally we want to officially announce three additions to our coaching staff --- Garrett Wills, Rebecca Holcomb, and Phil Brown. While each one will later be assigned to a specific team they are currently working with all of our players in all practice and game situations. Coach Wills spends a tremendous amount time working with our pitchers and focusing on in-game strategy. Coach Holcomb has learned her pitching style under Coach Chattin and also brings an extremely intense and competitive fire to our organization. Phil Brown is a former collegiate baseball player that is working with all aspects of skill development. Even though his background is as a catcher he has begun to take a more active overall defensive role.
ProStar Fastpitch hopes to add additional coaching staff members in the next couple of weeks as we are in discussion with current high school , college, and select coaches about joining our organization.

We are excited to announce the addition of Gracie Geddie (Class of 2018) to our collegiate exposure team roster. Gracie is a 6ft pitcher / utility player that attends North Sand Mountain High School. Gracie and her family live in Higdon AL. While Gracie is a 2018 graduate she does not turn 15 until later this summer.
Gracie currently takes pitching / hitting lessons from Ginger Jones Sillery the former University of Alabama All-American. Gracie has an outstanding drop ball and a very good change-up. ProStar will be working to increase her pitch velocity and her cardio. Outside the circle Gracie will mainly receive time as a 1B / OF / DH candidate. ProStar Fastpitch views Gracie as a potential home run threat in the offensive line-up.
Gracie will make her ProStar Fastpitch practice debut this Thursday and her first tournament will be the Birmingham Southeastern Exposure Tournament!

May 13, 2015 Press Release
ProStar Fastpitch is excited to announce that Shelby Hammontree (Class of 2016-Heritage High School) has decided to switch her commitment from East Carolina University to the University of North Georgia.
Quotes from Coach Chattin:
"Shelby is one of the most talented players I have ever coached and she is probably the hardest working player I have ever coached."
"She is blessed with God - given ability and works tirelessly at her craft."
"She is a 5ft 11in two-time All-State catcher with an outstanding arm and is a power hitting home run threat at the plate. Shelby is also to be commended for her loyalty and her leadership abilities."
Shelby committed to ECU as a freshman but with the season long turmoil at ECU over Coach Keylon-Randolph's leave of absence and recent resignation she felt that it was time to pursue other opportunities. The University of North Georgia is a great fit for her academics / her softball / and her work ethic. Coach Mike Davenport is one of the most respected coaches in the business and spends his summers coaching in the National Pro Fastpitch league with the USSSA Pride based out of Orlando.
One of the things that appealed to Shelby as she made this decision was the opportunity to play for one of the top D-II programs in the country and a shot at playing for a National Championship. Shelby is expected to come in and compete immediately at North Georgia.
Shelby plays for ProStar Fastpitch during the Select season and Heritage High School during the school season. Her parents are Gary and Shannon Hammontree.
Quotes from Shelby Hammontree:
"Once I made the decision to decommit from ECU the two most important considerations in my mind were 1) academics and 2) the opportunity to win a National Championship. "
"I would like to thank my parents, friends, and coaches for supporting me thru this difficult time. They supported me but allowed me to make my own decisions."
"Ultimately softball as a player will end. I wanted a great education. In addition I just could not see myself going to a program that was not a winner. I want to improve as a player and I want to win --- that is why you play the game"
Please contact Coach Chattin if you need additional information on this release.
