I have always been a firm believer that our society / our schools / and our individual families do not do enough to prepare our young people for the real world. We try to cram their head full of math and science and english and social studies but we do not teach time management / motivation / passion / or living life with a purpose.
Even though I teach students about math I have always tried to impart life lessons. Even though I think we do a great job with the sport of softball I have always tried to teach so much more than the game.
I tell the girls all the time that the most powerful thing in the world is an intelligent / strong-willed woman. This week after the conclusion of our EOC testing I showed my classes a video of John Croyle and Nick Saban speaking in 2012 at a University of Alabama "Coaching Character" seminar.
Some of the concepts that were discussed: 1) know who you are 2) know why you do what you do 3) do what you do with passion 4) be a relentless competitor 5) be the best you can be on a daily basis 6) do not play the opponent or the scoreboard---play every play the same way.
I truly believe in the above concepts. I wish all of our ProStar Family would find their purpose in life and live that life with a passion that transcends our jobs / our families / our teams.
Are you going to impress some one? Are you going to impact some one? or are you going to inspire some one? There is a difference!
